Football was not in my favor today so I decided to hit up the north wall for the high tide. Got out there at 1pm and started chucking my favorite lure: 5" YUM Dinger in green pumpkin/chartreuse tail, 1/4 oz bullet weight, 3/0 worm hook. Within the first ten minutes I hooked up right next to the wall and brought up a fiesty 14.5 inch cabezon. Kept throwing this rig between markers 11 and 6 for several missed bites that felt like little blacks. After a while you start to get a 'feel' for how certain fish bite. I tried a white/watermelon Dinger for a while too, but didn't get any love so I switched back to the green pumpkin/chartreuse and continued getting the little bites. Finally hooked one of em around 2pm and confirmed my suspicions...7" black. Next hookup came 30 minutes later, turned out to be a 18" ling. He was a fiesty fella for his size.
One thing I forgot while I was out there: the high tide was REALLY high, over 7 foot, and as a result the sandy area behind the wall filled up with water! I had to wade nearly up to my waist when I was leaving at 3pm. Not that it mattered much anyway, since I was already drenched by the continuous rain.
