More Batties!

I fished my spot yesterday and from 5:00-7:00pm with squid on a slider and caught and caught two 36lb rays.

I wish I could find a consistent ray-producing spot like yours MM.  I like hooking into them with my 10 foot 'Negotiator' pole, but right now in Humboldt Bay it's difficult to keep off all the dogfish.  The doggies are okay fighters on light tackle, but on the Negotiator it's no contest.

I've been tryin to think of a way to fish for the dogs with ultralight or light tackle, but how would you throw all that weight?

Every time I've brought my 8'6" Ugly Stik 'jetty pole' out for sharks, it starts out being a lot of fun.  But, and I'm not kidding, EVERY TIME I do it, I'll hook into a big ray that'll spool me like it's nothing.  And then of course, when I return later with the Negotiator, all I hook are dogfish that would be perfectly suited for my jetty pole.  Funny how that works out huh?
