I hit the South at 3ish with the high tide gettin ready to turn. I started around marker 33 and picked up a nice little Black pretty quick. It was right around 12" but it was real skinny and I decided to turn it back. Kept workin down and right around 4 o'clock at marker 30 I got slammed! I set the hook and there was no delay, that thing was runnin. It was so strong and easily the fastest thing I have ever seen I didn't know what to think of it, is it a Batray, huge shark, the worlds best Cabezon, I DON'T KNOW? No joke, it was goin right along the rocks, just screamin in one direction and then the next, goin out and comin back. When it wanted to go there was no stoppin it. My thumb started to burn a couple of times and it spooled my about 3 times, finaly breakin me off on the 3rd insane, crazy run. I swear it felt like the crazyness lasted for about 3 minutes. I was movin over those rocks, a couple times fearin I was gunna get pulled in. This thing was so powerfull and so fast and it didn't feel like anythin I have ever held on to before. After I reeled in my broken line and began to try and figure out what just happend, a harbor seal popped its head out of the water not too far in front of me with a look on its face probably as confused as the look on my face. I think we both looked at each other and figured it out pretty quickly. I hope it is laughin about now too and not still tryin to pull a hook out of its mouth. It bit a 6" Cabelas Aquaglow jerk minnow, what a trip.
