South Jetti, Easter Sunday

It was such a nice day! My buddy and I hit the South at about 1:30 to a rippin outgoing tide. Like Clayman said the dredger is back and the water is turning. It wasn't affecting the fishing on the South though!
We were throwin texas rigs for about an hour when I saw 2 kids comin in with a stringer of about 6 or 7 nice Black Rockies. I asked how far out they were catching them and they said 'way out', so we headed that way. There were 2 DFG wardens out checking everybody. Only the second time I've seen wardens around here. We came upon them citing a guy with 2 nice Lings. As we passed I heard the guy defending himself with an 'I had no idea' comment but as we talked to the DFG counter, she explained those kids from earlier said they told him they weren't legal.
We started pretty far out there but couldn't pass the pounding waves covering the rest of the jetti. We worked our way back down to past where we started. Right before the parking lot I brought up a pretty nice Black. I went up and cut it and when I got back to my rock my buddy was sayin hes got somethin. I looked down to see a nice Lingcod. I'm guessin about 32". He got busted on a run after he brought it up the first time. As this was going on we were gettin sidled by a guy who saw the action. My buddy and I were talking about what a nice Ling that was when this guy lands a nice Black right to our left. I was hoping for a school but that was it in that area and for the night. We worked down to the car and at about 5:30 we headed home. Fresh fish for easter dinner.

Apparently the south is the place to be right now.  The dredger was messing everything up at the north.  It looked like they were dredging out the sandbar near the bend in the jetty.

I'll probably wait til ling season opens before I make the trek to the south.  Releasing tasty lingcod hurts!

It was a lot closer to the North that day. There were some spots along the South that had some clear water still (so obviously I worked those areas to death!). I was really hoping to come home with more than one fish especially after seeing those stringers people had.
