Aprill 11 '08, South Jetti, Humboldt

My step brother came up again and we hit the South at about 10 am. The tide was almost low and the Greenling were out in full force. We were throwing 5-7"  Yamasenkos , Texas rigged on 1/2 oz. My bro brought up a nice Greeny around 15+" and the rest were hit and missed for a while. I'm pretty sure they were all Greenies. We pounded the jetti for hours with a lot of missed hits. Around 1:30 I was gettin good hits in an area but not stickin it. I kept at it till I got it to stick. Lots of head shakes on the way up till something happened and it slipped off. The next cast showed someone elses line was broke off and strung along the rocks which is what I'm pretty sure cause it to slip off. Bummer but I'm pretty sure it was another fat Greeny. Not too long after almost the same thing happened. A few missed strikes until I got the hook set. This time the hook set was heavy and I knew it was a nice Lingcod. After a couple good runs I was able to land a 27", 6 lb 13 oz Ling. Schweet! It was on after that! My bro caught 3 undersized Lings, a Black Rocky that was released. I also caught 2 more undersized Lings and another monster that slipped off on a surface run. Thats a real bummer when you see a nice fish swim off. Oh well... There were quite a few people out there. Saw some people with some big Greenies and another guy had 2 nice Lings. We headed in at about 3.
