After hibernating through most of the winter and spring, I finally got out and did some jetty fishin' today. Target species were bass (spotted bay bass, sand bass, or calico bass), and halibut, as is usually the case at our Southern CA jetties.
I spent two hours (1-3pm) working the incoming tide for one dink sand bass and three pancake size halibut. All fish were fooled on a 3 inch Big Hammer in Xmas tree color, 1/4 oz leadhead, with a slathering of Unibutter.
Overall it was a nice return to the water, but now I'm jonesing for something that's gonna pull a little drag. I might have to hit my ultra-secret-night-time-ninja jetty for the big boys tonight...stay tuned for a report late this evening
